Debating on switching feed

You'd probably get a better deal at a feed store than Walmart, but there are several cheaper brands available that would be more nutritional than her current diet. My town has one that sells their own blend of chick starter at 70 cents a pound for small batches.
Walmart had it for around $8 for a large bag, but when I went to buy it, I was informed they quit selling it at my location, as for the feed store in city limits, they're cheap on some stuff but expensive with other stuff. For instance the medicated starter she was on when i got her was $4.99 for 5 lbs. & the cracked corn was $3.99 for 10 lbs.

To OP: also check the mill date on the bag of feed you buy. It should be less than 6 weeks old. Since she's not been fed adequately until now, I'd suggest that you put her on multi flock or un-medicated starter. You will need to buy some oyster shell to have available to her when she turns 4 months old.

Of the bags of feed I've bought, one was just under a year old, one six months old and the latest 2 months old. I searched three entire stores worth of chicken feed for the most recent mill date, the above was the best I could come up with. This is one reason I ferment the feed, but what else can one do with such limited choices?
