I have my teenagers in a pen in the main coop with the adults. One is a 6 week old GLW pullet whose upper beak tip is broken off; just noticed today. Her own mother is the prime suspect (The eggs were incubated, hatched and raised indoors). Poor little thing, she imprinted on me and is the sweetest little wyandotte I've known. To anyone who has had a chicken break off the beak tip, is it likely to regrow?

It's very likely to grow back if it's only the tip and the quick, just like in the toenail, is still there...Slifer broke a piece off the side of her beak and it grew back and it happened to someone else too...
The only time that I KNOW it won't grow back is if they're debeaked at the "factory". Because they cauterize it too.

One of my girls broke the whole end of the top of her beak off sometime in the teenage stage. Not as much as a hatchery de-beak job, but a significant portion of the end of the top beak.

It's grown completely back now - you can't tell it was ever broken.

Thanks guys! I would have been disappointed if she were permanently disfigured
