DEC providing Ringnecks for release-housing, care, etc?

I didn't ask many questions from the hatchery. I wanted info from people that are not biased. Sometimes a neutral party gives the best answers which is why I love BYC. Lots of great info and many people willing to help. I am going to go to Cornell Coperative Ext. and talk it over with them.

If you are going to raise any number, you will need a fair amount of room. (Much more than you normally use for chickens.) The more room and the more natural the surroundings, the better chance they will adapt well to the environment when released. Normally you will need to get a permit for game pheasants in NY(but, under this program, you are covered by the agreement with the DEC).

Thanks, after doing a bit of research I probably won't do it due to cost, proper space to allow flight and I don't hunt.
