DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Pics
They get a little overgrown sometimes they’re in an enclosed run we do have rocks and things in there for them but for some reason the Silkie’s tend to grow out more than the standard breeds.😊

my hatch is done :) .. not counting the 2 duds in my ebay batch of 12 i got 10 AND the strategy to open up a small air hole in the pip in the 2 backwards chicks facing the butt end worked, ive lost a couple of chicks in the past that went full term and died in the egg that pipped the wrong end, so, i needed a win its about time lol ... i think im addicted to hatching eggs lol wonder if theres a name for that ......
Join the club, it’s called a HATCH A HOLIC!
I believe many of us here on BYC suffer from this affliction!😂🥰
Congratulations on your great hatch rate! All the babies look awesome!🥰

Why do you file the beaks?

I’ll get a before and after pic when we head that way
How old is Beaker now? I had a little silver laced Orpington hatch with a very severe cross beak, she only survived three days unfortunately.
She was also missing an eye and probably part of her brain as well.

I wish the lighting was better but there’s 10 in the brooder and three+ more 🥚s in the incubator. One just hatched moments ago 🥰. Super excited there are two solid blues and a possible splash hen along with a few partridge golds. The mixed chicks are black with yellow tips so it’s easy to tell everyone apart so far.

Congratulations! Would love to see them in normal light and see all the beautiful colors you got!🥰

Mmm there one particularly large chick that’s struggled to get his right leg underneath him. It seems like it was pointed to he’s rear in the egg. He’s starting to manage it but I’ve also noticed he’s fairly round in shape. I’m hoping his digestive system is developed and he’s able to poo.
