DECEMBER Hatch-A-Long!😊

Pics
For me I take into consideration, the climate in the house and also outside. Cause sometimes the house reflects the condition of the outside air since I don't always have the temperature steady. Say keeping it steady at 70 in the winter. So knowing temp and humidity inside my house during the day and night helps me to make adjustments to the incubator. For the best possible hatch.

here at 6000 feet in dry colorado I have to add water to my incubators to get them to the 25-35% range.
Yes, exactly demonstrating that everyone's conditions will differ. If I add any water, my humidity jumps to over 60%.
I even have to add "toasted" dry sponges to bring the incubator humidity down for Marans.😊

I have noticed the size of the incubator in relation to the amount of eggs in it. It has altered the humidity sensitivity. So my DIY incubator is about 10x11x18 in size, kind of small. When I had 18 Serama eggs in there, the humidity was very touchy in terms I didn't need water in it. Humidity stayed about 30 to 40%.

Now that I started my 6 SFH eggs, I had to add water to it and has been stable in the 40 to 45% range.

So This was my large egg that stopped moving. This little guy was supposed to hatch almost five days ago but never piped. I’m not sure what went wrong? No deformities that I can see and he was ready to hatch the membrane was clear of blood vessels. He was in the right position, head at the large end, tucked under the right wing. My only guess is maybe he drowned? Maybe to big?

I hope it’s ok to post pics? I don’t mean to turn any stomachs.

on a better note I candled the last two eggs and one started cheeping so I put both of them back quickly

Looks like you may be right about the drowning. Sometimes they die for no apparent reason. 🙁
Glad the other ones are progressing nicely😊
