December SweetsSwap!!!!!!!!! *addresses went out*

I hate to be a wet blanket, but it sounds kind of dangerous. Although I would like to think that all of the people on BYC are great people who would never hurt someone else, the possibility for foul play is high. It's the same reason they tell parents to not allow their kids to accept unwrapped goods on Halloween and why postal workers are warned against accepting food gifts on holidays.

So just a word of caution to everyone. I hope those of you that are going to swap have a great time at it and my worries are unfounded!!!

Well, I think we all going to have everyones names and addresses so if something goes wrong. Plus you would get sick after eating one or two cookies and have the rest as evidence? And I dont know about anyone else but I am not mean spirited, and believe you should treat others the way you want to be treated. I am not going to poision some one and go to jail for the rest of my life over a cookie/candy/bread swap. I want to go ahead with this swap, I am looking forward to it! What about everyone else? Want to take the leap of faith?

I would just like to add that if the nation's food supply hasn't killed us yet, I doubt any BYCers will murder us LOL!!!!! Most of us have been on here long enough to "know" most of the others on here too. I have a killer pecan praline recipe but I can't ever get my crap together in a timely fashion to ship my stuff out.

okay... so i think we'll do it, and it will just start small and hopefully gain steam as the months go by...

my opinion on a few ? that were raised....

1) store bought....
i'd hate to detere people who don't cook or bake, but what fun is it to get something you can go buy in the store yourself...
and if you bought something from a bakery or something.. no recipe to send with it...

now if you can bribe a friend into making something for you to use in the swap and give you the recipe, i don't see a problem with that.. lol...

2) dangerous
i will have everyone's info... the address they re receiving their items at, and their names.. and their regular emails, and their site login names, enough info to track someone if they were to pull something goofy... but use your discretion.. if you're worried about it, don't participate...
how do you know what the guy at wendy's put in that burger back there where you can't see what they're doing...

3) what do you guys think??
sign up by the 10th, and mail by the 19th?? just thinking getting there by christmas.. even though this isn't really christmas themed....
but shipping will be backed up due to christmas anyway...
you

but i'd like to get you guys opinions on those 3 subjects.. and then i'll change the thread title and start taking signups on 12/1

will we get the names on the 11th, will they be emailed or pmed? thanks GPN

1.) bribe a friend, or family member to make it or teach you to make it.
2.) dangerous- I would say you trust yourself and if you trust yourself then why not trust your fellow BYC person
3.) those dates are fine with me

Sign me up!
