Good day all,
About a year ago we started looking into backyard birds. We finally decided on ducks and I started doing some reading and research. Got the Storeys Guide and found your site. I told the wife that when we got serious I’d figure out whatever questions we needed answered and post a thread here. Well, we plan on taking delivery (hopefully) of about a half-dozen Khaki Campells in mid-July when we return from vacation.
The best part; I am still trying to find a question that hasn’t already been asked and answered here or in the book. Every. Single. Question. we have come up with has already been discussed! Impressive to say the least. This weekend we had the granddaughters for the night and told them about the ducks we plan to get. Of course, they will need to spend as much time as possible at our place to help raise them, and of course they will each get to ‘adopt’ and name their own duck. How to tell them apart? Three little girls decide that painting their toe nails with polish is the perfect solution. Hah! I wonder if that question has been asked!? Of course it has.
Just wanted to say thanks to all that contribute and share one quick discussion that we had with the granddaughters Saturday evening.
Avery (age nine) – where do you buy the ducks? Can we go and pick our own?
Gma (age 29) – no honey, we buy them online and they send them to us, we can’t pick them.
Shelby (age 12) – They mail them to you?
Chloe (age 7) – They put them in the MAILBOX!?!?!?!
Shelby – What kind of sick business is this!?!?!
Once we quit laughing we explained the procedure and got down to the serious business of naming the ducks.
Again, my appreciation for the site and participants. I’m sure I’ll have questions once we get our feet wet.
