Well I have decided to join y'all in what seems to be a fun adventure of raising some chickens. I have snooped around this site ALOT the past few weeks and have come across a ton of great info and ideas. Just wanted to swing in and say hello and I hope to continue learning and having fun. I decided to start an account so I may beable to keep tract of a lot of the information here and maybe log some of my own.
My wife, children, and i have decided to add 16 chicks and this will be our first time raising chickens.

so glad you have joined us.

And, congratulations on the decision to get your own flock - it is a great, fun adventure you and your family will enjoy.

Sounds like you already know your way around here, but if not - do explore the Learning Center.

Feel free to ask questions, you'll find folks here are friendly and helpful.

Thank you all. We got 16 chicks. I was up late lastnight building their brooder and up early this morning for work!

I would post a picture if the brooder but I either need more posts or just can't figure out how to post them.

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Welcome to Backyard chickens. You won't believe how fast they will outgrow your brooder.- you may want to start on an addition now.

I am going to be starting their coop hopefully this week. With the weather seeming to be breaking here in Michigan I'm hoping by the time they outgrow this brooder the coop will be ready and I can transition them there. Even if I have to use the heat lamps in the coop for awhile I'm ok with that. Thanks to all for the hellos I can see this place is friendly already!
