deciding on my breed

What is the friendliest chickens you've had?

I have 2 kids (7 & 5), and i do want my small laying flock (i'm thinking 6-8 total) to be pets, not just egg machines.

Right now i'm thinkging a pair of black australorps, a pair of rhode island reds, and a pair of buff opringtons... (all females - i will not have a rooster)

i prefer larger brown egg layers, but if there's another breed that would be really really sweet/friendly/doesn't mind being held type i wouldn't mind switching that up. I most likely won't be ordering them till early spring, so i have tons of time to make up my mind then change it again... lol

i have black austalorps, rhode island reds and buff orpingtons and so far the black australorps and the buff orpingtons are the most friendly, mine are always the first to greet you when you go see them, while the rhode island reds hold back and are more shy
