Deciding on roost location in coop

Hello All,

I built our coop from the Purina plans online (http://poultry.purinamills.com/NUTRITIONMANAGEMENT/HenHouseHutchDesign/) for our 1st flock of 6 chickens. The chicks are only 3 weeks old so I haven't installed a roost yet.

I'm debating where/how to put roosts in the coop.

I could go with the plans and build the roost as a ladder type though I'm concerned it will take up too much floor space.

Alternatively I was think about putting two 2x4s attached to the walls going from front to back.

Thoughts?

I'd go with 2x4s. That is what my roosts are and they are great

You can use the 2x4's and screw a couple of hinges to the wall so it flips up out of the way when you clean it out. Saw some ideas on YouTube on this.

I thought of building some simple brackets that I could put the roosts in so that they would be removable when I do a full coop clean.
