Deciding Runners vs. Campbells?

I'd like to hear from those who have had both runners and campbells. How are they similar or different? I'm trying to decide between the two. I know they are both good egg layers and foragers.

Do one or the other do a better job with bugs/slugs from the garden?

Does one or the other forage more gently, with regard to the garden veggies / flowers?

I don't mind some loss, and I'll bring the slugs TO the ducks when the garden is young. Right now I am having a horrible mess with stepping on / smearing slugs on the sidewalk. I'd like to turn those slugs into eggs instead of sidewalk goo.

No difference in foraging or plant damage. Both seem to do a great job killing creepy crawlies. My runner is a great fly catcher. Both lay great eggs. I guess it all boils down to personality.

Runners are cute but tend to be afraid of their own shadows. Khakis are better on that front.

Another option might be Welsh Harlequins. They are a khaki campbell offshoot. They are a bit bigger than campbells, but they are also friendlier and less skittish.

I did have a khaki hen that would chase squirrels out of the yard. I miss that. She wasn't very friendly though. She was flock raised and I got her as an adult. It was great not having the fuzzy tree rats destroying everything when she was around

We only have Khaki Campbells.

They lay an insane amount of eggs.

We live in the slug capital of the world (well it seems that way)

I have not seen a single slug this year. Now, there is either some rampant slug killing virus, or the ducks are cleaning them up.

I vote Khakis.

I have the best of both worlds! -- a 1/2 Runner, 1/2 Khaki Campbell! Ms. Graham Quacker is a little doll, very sweet tempered & pretty & not flighty & talks up a storm! Her mate, Ritz, is a white Runner & very laid back for a Runner from what I've heard--these are my first ones. They aren't old enough for eggs yet but I'm looking forward to them laying.
Good luck with your decision!

You could probably pick whichever breed you wanted and they would both be great. But Runners do tend to be more flighty, and Khakis lay more eggs.

I would think about Welsh Harlequins. They lay as well as Khakis, and are much calmer than either Runners or Khakis. Plus, they will go broody and hatch out more babies for you.
