Deck the run with boughs of holly

can I plant holly trees in my run and expect them to survive chicken poop? Will the chickens eat them or will they injure the chickens with their thorny leaves?

Hmm, don't know if the poop will kill the trees, but I doubt the leaves should bother them too much. Maybe if you fence them off until they're well established, they'll survive whatever the chickens can do to them - I have unwanted holly trees all around and they seem to survive almost anything. Not 100% sure on if the berries are safe though I would think they are, as wild birds can eat them.
