I decorate outside while it's still above freezing, usually around the first couple weeks of December. I put up my (live) tree the week before Christmas, and leave it up through Orthodox Christmas. That is tradition for me, as my mother was Lithuanian and they left decorations up for the Russians in the neighborhood.

However, I throughly enjoy seeing decorations year-round. For me, they symbolize peace and happy memories, and I see no reason to complain about that.

yes! we watched rudolph the red nosed reindeer last year. it's a really good movie. not just for christmas.
also, you should watch Muppet Christmas Carol. It's a musical, it's really funny, and it's a classic. it's definitely a all-year-round movie.
Already seen it watched it way to many times last year ..it is a classic lol have you seen disneys babes in toyland? Thats my favorite christmas movie. Claymations jack frost is second lol

never heard of those.
which one did you watch many times last year? the Muppet Christmas Carol, or Rudolph?

IMO there should be NOTHING that is Christmas related happening before Thanksgiving except watching for the perfect present for someone. Not decorating, not Christmas music, not Christmas movies, nothing.
I’ve even been tempted to start petitions to boycott stores that start selling Christmas decorations before November. That is just trying to cash in on a holiday that is way too commercial already.

why???
I'm listening to christmas music right now. I am supposed to be cleaning up so that I can decorate for christmas right now as well. I often watch christmas movies before Thanksgiving.

I decorate however I want and I decorate whenever I feel like it's the day to decorate for Christmas. I don't celebrate in the traditional more religious manner that I was raised in, but rather have a more Yule view for celebrating. I used to live my life with everything planned according to what I could control and what I thought was acceptable to others. However, one day I realized that I was miserable because I was caring more about what other people wanted me to do and not what I actually wanted to do. So now I make decisions based off of what makes me happy. I celebrate what I want to celebrate, decorate how/when I want to decorate and when people try to force their opinion on me they get shown the door (I actually have a sign by my front door that says "All our visitors bring happiness. Some by coming. Others by leaving."😂)So if you hate Christmas then don't celebrate and don't let anyone force you into celebrating. If you love Christmas then deck those halls and decorate to your hearts content whenever you feel like it. If you want to celebrate something else entirely around that time of year then go celebrate whatever you're celebrating to your hearts content.

Let me try to put it a little differently. What I mean is I don’t agree with doing those things before Thanksgiving, and so don’t like having it crammed down my throat by retailers, etc. Especially when I feel they only do it to make a buck, not because they care about Christmas and what it means to some people. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to do it in the privacy of your own home if that is what makes you happy.
