I do that all the time. 🤭
I love it when people do that, but personally I find it VERY hard to do, it's not like I don't adore my family and want to give them things, but I find it easier to hoard gifts for months and give them all at once on Christmas, because giving gifts at random times makes me feel sooo goofy🤭
I'd rather love someone with acts of kindness that seem casual to avoid the stupid feeling😁
I'm like a cadbury egg in that way, hard on the outside, gooey on the inside.

We get our tree the first day that the tree farm gets in the non native trees. Not because I'm in a hurry, rather I prefer a tall, perfectly shaped, Frasier Fir and they don't get many of those. I usually have lights on it by Thanksgiving, but don't add ornaments and such until I've recovered from Thanksgiving. The tree and all decorations stay up until a few days after the new year.

This year, no tree or decorations. Still hosting for all 3 holidays, but I'm getting a pass on the tree and deco.😁 There's no space for all that in an Airstream.😅

We don’t wait for a particular day to give a gift, or to have ice cream cake… We just do it!

We do that too. My husband’s first wife died in a car wreck at 35 years old. So he knows how quickly you can lose a loved one unexpectedly. He decided it is stupid to wait for a particular date on a calendar to give someone a gift he knows they would like. If we see something the other person wants, and we can afford it, we never wait until a birthday, Christmas, or other holiday to buy it.

The way I do it is this: give neighbors gift ( in my case, ‘twas usually sets of dishes ). The reason you are giving said gift is because they are either good neighbors , or you can mask it as a early Christmas present. If you do it in spring or summer, it’s best for early Christmas presents because then you can give them Christmas presents dieting December.

Very sad for hubbys loss. That kind of loss, that way…. Some people never recover from that. Praise God he found you! Life is precious.

That’s a very good attitude your hubby has about gifts. We don’t celebrate any holidays, because their reason for being has been so modified & nullified. ( When you know, you can’t not know..)

Thank you. He almost didn’t recover. What made it even worse was he was driving and blames himself for her death. 20 years later he still has issues on occasion. There definitely tends to be a different mindset for people who’ve been through similar types of tragedy. He always hates it when somebody says “I know how you feel” because either they have no idea how he actually feels or they have been through something just as horrible, and he wouldn’t wish that on his worst enemy.
