Decrow

The Spaldings peacocks or green peacocks are much less noisy!

I agree completely with this, but noticed that my Fred, 5 this year seems to be altering his calls and trying to sound more like the India Blues. Ever seen this happen Dany?

I read that when you keep both blue peafowl and green peafowl in the same vicinity that the greens will attempt to mimic the calls of the louder blue peafowl. My Spalding just like Fred was just as loud as my other males. Perhaps @Pfauenfreund can tell us more since he does have blue peafowl as well.

The sound is louder but more low and rare. The call of blue peacock is more aggressive to the ear.

Something to put in the corner of your property:

Fred's call is definitely different, longer and louder, this year than it was in the years past.

Are you looking to perform this procedure yourself or looking for a vet to do it? Dr. James from OK seems like the only one from this forum who would do such procedure on peafowl. And the $ cost is high.

I recently hatched out too many BCM roosters and have a friend of mine who is a vet decrowed some of them. According to him, the procedure is very straight forward, but it's very tricky to get the amount of anesthesia amount correct for them.

I will try to post a video of the little guy crowing 2 weeks after the surgery.

I send my peacock to a friend that lives in the country, i will build a pen, and se how things works! I would like to see the video, thanks!

Here's a short video of him crowing. His crow is about 10-20% loud compared to pre-surgery.
