Deep Litter Hemp

Hi all. We use the deep litter system with industrial hemp. I am curious, how often do you turn or clean out the coop? It doesn’t smell, it’s super dry and the only thing I see in there are feathers ( I think my flock is moulting they’re about 11 weeks old). Thanks in advance!

I use hemp and clean out my coop once a year. I have poop boards that are cleaned daily though so I don't utilize the DLM method. If your bedding mix isn't decomposing, it's not really DLM. It's just deep bedding. As long as the coop is dry and odor free, don't worry too much about how often to clean out the bedding.

I was trying to get it from Aubichick when we started but they were running too far behind on delivery when we needed it so I got it from rent-a-coop. It was nice. No dust at all.

I found a place that is the cheapest so far... americanhempllc.com it is about $20 for 33# I will be using this Industrial hemp in my coop... whenever mt dh get around to building it.

I buy hemp semi locally at $16 for 33lb. I buy half a pallet and drive 2 hours. Dealers obviously have to mark it up, but should still be cheaper if one is nearby.
