Deep Litter Method?

So I want to start using the deep litter method, but I feel like my coop is too small for that. It is about 3'9 x 4'10. There are also 2 nest boxes in that space. I have 8 chickens, and am not using a poop board. Is that too small of a space? I can send pictures of my coop if needed.

Also, if I do start using that method, what if I use different kinds of litter? Like, if I use pine shavings, then I use mowed grass, etc? Could I also use hay?

To be honest, your coop, not accounting for the nest boxes is far too small for so many birds. Seems like a max of 3 birds would be more suitable.

I use dry grass clippings - free and work fine for me.

Yeah I thought it was pretty small, but they don't seem really crowded. I wish we made it bigger... But thanks!

So the nests are taking up part of the 4x5 coop?
Can you post a pic?

Too small for deep litter in the coop, but you can do it in the run.
Also what is your climate/location?
