Is the colored mulch safe for use in quail pens?

When I put it in my flower beds my gloves are stained brown from the dye when I get through laying it. Does that answer your question.

Not sure if it is toxic. You can buy untreated mulch at local garden centers if you're looking for mulch, or just take some branches and see if anybody you know has a wood chipper.
