Deep litter questions

I am not a chicken expert, or for that matter not that familiar with Deep litter, but I use Vigoro wood chips from home depot, they are colored, but if you buy them on sale you can get them for as little as $2 per bag, I like to put a couple in inches in every year and it works pretty well for me.

I personally wouldn't use colored mulch without knowing exactly what it was colored with and that it was 100% safe, but if it's working and your chickens aren't having any issues ....
