Deep litter with plastic at the bottom for quail enclosure?

I want to try deep litter method. at the bottom of the cage is plastic. if i put bioactive dirt at the bottom will Deep litter method work, making its own tiny ecosystem?

A small cage is unlikely to support the depth you need for the deep litter method. You need at least 6 inches of depth.
