I was at Home Depot and they have a 100'x7' roll of deer mesh. It is plastic/nylon. I was wondering if anyone had used it for a run. Would it hold up, will it be predator proof? Thanks for any input.

We used plastic deer fencing from Benners , I guess its the same as the fence from Home Depot. We fenced 3/4 of an acre to keep the chickens and dogs from wandering too far from home. The chickens have a very secure coop for safety at night. They free range during the day. Nothing has ever come through the fence to threaten the chickens during the day but I think the 4 Dobes might have quite a deterent effect:) Go to Benners site online to learn more about the fencing. They don't have anything for chickens but lots of good info.

I like it as long as it's to keep the chickens in, not the predators out.

By the way, does that deer mesh stretch and sag?

The deer fencing hasn't stretched or sagged and it has been up for about 1 1/2 yrs. We strung it between trees and used the poles when no trees were available. The longest run between supports was about 15 ft. The most difficult part of the installation was conforming the fencing material to the slope of our property. We live in the mountains and our land is hilly. Installation on flat land would be easy. I agree, the fence is good for keeping the hens in but we don't trust it to keep predators out. The girls get locked up at night. We let 6" lay flat on the ground to create a barrier and used stakes to hold the fence down. Check out Benners site for good info.
