Omg that is worse than a nightmare.I appreciate the kind wordswe have a suspected mareks outbreak going thru a different portion of our flock as well & my daily checks are now checking for bodies & it has been absolutely devastating! I am so keen to have my flock healthy again!

I would be more concerned about the birds with suspected Mareks in the different portion of your flock. Mareks is extremely contagious in the feather dander and dust, so I would close your flock for now until you get confirmation.Thank you!! I appreciate all the info so much! Sounds like i will just have to keep an eye. Is it safe to assume I shouldn't sell any of my affected flock until after the 6 months? Obviously I wouldn't sell any with active lesions anyway, but how would you recommend I handle that aspect? We do breed to sell, so it's put a spanner in the works a touch! But if we have to hang onto everyone until it's totally clear then that's definitely what we will do![]()
Absolutely! We are getting a blood test done to confirm the mareks, however the vet we've been in contact with is under the assumption it may be a vitamin deficiency (no change in feed, but i don't know if our feed have changed their formula), we've since begun using a vitamin mix but our flock is closed down until we rule out mareks regardless. But if our blood test comes back clear for that would you recommend I keep our flock closed off for the entire 6 months?I would be more concerned about the birds with suspected Mareks in the different portion of your flock.
