Hello all 👋
I was wondering if a foot deformity would be the cause or reason for a hen to stop laying. She is 10 months old

As long as she is able to adequately access feed and water, I doubt that would cause her to stop laying. Is there any possibility that she is being excessively bullied?

She isn't my hen, so I don't know if she is being bullied. I was considering buying her but was wondering if the leg would be why she hasn't been laying since summer.

Many reasons a 10 month old might not be laying. Nutrition, lighting, crowding

Poor genetics.. don't do that to yourself.

These types of things (deformities) get worse with age.. not better.

Honestly.. because animals don't expres pain the same we do doesn't mean it's not painful.. they just learn to live with it.

That's no quality of life for a chicken.. and the person trying to sell her should be giving her away or euthanizing instead of trying to profit. :(

If you need something to care about.. a helpless pet that depends solely on you.. then sure do what you think is best.
