Hello, I recent got my first two goats (Nubians). A doeling and buckling. The doe has her horns, but is super sweet, would it be worth it to get her dehorned (age 5 months)? And would that be something a farrier would do? Or a vet? Or an experienced breeder? And how much have yall paid to have it done? I know that it is safer for the goat and the people to have the horns off but I don't know who to even call to have it done....
Second question the buck (age 4 months) was disbudded but I feel small little starts of horns so I think he needs to be redone? Or is that normal? And again would that be something a local breeder could do or would we need a farrier or vet?

Last question is there anyone in the North Texas area that would be willing to do this for me??? I am new and would love to learn for future goat kids!!

If you are an inexperienced stockman and/or squeamish, a vet is your best option. That said, we have taken the horns off more mature goats than I can count. We had no fatalities either. It is a relatively simple procedure but it is messy. If you want to know how to do it, contact me.
