Does anyone know what these chickens have derived from? I know they are a result of a reverse-cross, but what is a reverse-cross and with what? My husband and I have been scouring the internet with no luck. HELP!
Ok, we are thinking about calling the hatchery and drilling them. Everyone seems so tight-lipped on the subject. So if anyone knows anything, please help.
Anything with a brand name in the title (DeKalb, Hubbard, ISA, etc) is going to be a cross of proprietary lines of whatever. I would be inclined to think from the name they are some flavor of red sexlink but <dunno>

Well, you can "breed" them in the sense of making chicks out of them, which should be adequate layers, but those chicks will not be Dekalb Amberlinks, no. Same as with ISA Browns etc
Mt Healthy and Centurion Poultry sell them. It is said they originated here in the USA in the 70's. People who raised chicken in those days might remember them. I google it, there is a website that assures they lay longer than the other hybrids breeds. Their eggs are not as large as sex-link, but they have the capability of laying up for 80 months regularly without any problem. These is way beyond what the sex link produce. Hope this help.
Well, this whole idea started because my son loves the breed. He wanted to breed them, but we quickly found out that their chicks are not "true". So, I began researching them to find out first that they are a "sex-link". Second, that we can't "make" this breed.
So, now we're looking for a different breeding project. Oh well, big bummer, but life goes on. Thanks to everyone for their help!
