Delaware chicks with eyeliner

May be old and grey by the time this experiment is over, because it always leads to another one.

I think I know what you're talking about. I had a chick from Cyn with eyeliner... She is now 11 weeks old and it is still vaguely noticeable.

Delawares come from the combination of Barred Rocks and New Hampshire Reds from what I understand and there are few good ones from what Ive heard. I am seeing in here were people are talking about Columbian Rocks, Partridge Rocks, etc... to produce them. I don't think that is the way it is to be done from what the SOP says. I may be wrong but I don't think so. I am in the process of crossing an outstanding Barred Rock cockerel on New Hamp hens and have been gotting a lot of chicks. I have not gotten what I know is a sport yet. I have 99% barred chicks (very close to barred rocks but not quite as good on the barring as true BRs) but today I had one chick hatch. It is mostly white underneath and its head is nearly all white and its back is mostly black yet it has the wild type white stripes on its back. It is very similarly colored to Silver Penciled babies I had last year but not quite the same. I was wondering if it is going to turn out to be a Delaware sport. I guess time will tell. But so far no white newborns.

I'll see your eye liner and raise you racing stripes. These 2 chicks are from a batch of 26 Delaware chicks from Whitmore Farms.
(Shipped Monday, received Tuesday, photos on Wednesday)
