I am planning a mixed flock, and wondering (absurdly, but still...) what colors and patterns would most likely result from the following; a Delaware rooster over:

Buff Orpington
Black Australorp
New Hampshire
Speckled Sussex
and
Barred Rock.

I'm hoping to let the flock keep itself going, and wondering what the "next" flock will look like.

Thank you in advance for playing my silly game with me.

Delaware x

Buff orpington - will mostly look like Delawares, though they may have some light buff leakage. Roosters from this cross will have yellowish hackles and saddle feathers.

Black australorp - black with barring and silver leakage. Roosters might have some gold-ish/red feathers. Roosters, though barred, will be darker than a purebred barred rock, for instance.

New Hampshire - will look mostly like Delawares, probably with some red (barred) leakage. Roosters will have yellowish hackle and saddle feathers.

Speckled sussex - will look mostly like Delawares, probably with some red barred leakage. Roosters will have yellowish hackles and saddle feathers. The mottling (white spots) of the SS won’t show up in the first generation, but can show up in later generations.

Barred rock - black with barring and silver leakage. Roosters will probably appear close to a purebred barred rock, since they’ll be pure for the barring gene.

Barring, if you didn’t know, is the white stripes on the feathers. Delawares and barred rocks are barred. Pure barred roosters will always create barred offspring. Also, due to the Delaware’s silver (white), all his offspring will have at least one silver gene, which is why many of the first generation offspring will look a lot like Delawares.

Holy hackles, Batman, that was awesome. So maybe I'll look into what a Buff Orp Rooster or New Hampshire rooster would do with this same group of hens (adding a Delaware hen) because I don't have any of them yet. This is just my breed list for my first flock. Wanted to start with "beginner chickens" and go from there.

this is just what i was looking for today! i have a SLW rooster and EE and BO hens, currently have a broody setting on 5 eggs. Roostersare awesome, can you give me an idea what the chicks may look like? thanks in advance!

SLW x BO - solid silver (basically replacing the BO’s buff with white) with the roosters having yellowish hackle and saddle feathers, silver with some light buff leakage, silver with partial black lacing, messy silver laced, partially laced/messy lacing with some buff leakage, and/or black with a lot of silver leakage/patterning.
Though there are a lot of possibilities, based on what I’ve seen, the first is most likely (mostly silver/white).

Do you have pictures of your Easter eggers?

If you’re less interested in barring and silver, then choosing a red rooster would be best. You’d basically get a lot more solid red and black/red chicks.

i don't have any pictures, but they are basically white with some buff coloring. kinda sounds like i could end up with some calico chickens from that SLWxBO 😁

EEs can have a lot of different genetics, so I can’t really help you with just a description.
It’s possible, though unfortunately getting a mostly white bird is more likely. I do hope you get some colorful chicks though.
