Delaware rooster question

I lost my rooster last night to a predator. Very bummed. Was curious if I could make my own Delaware by crossing a barred rock rooster with my NH Red hens? I'll be hard pressed to find a replacement for him where I live....no one has Dels here. I ordered him from a hatchery. Thoughts?

Get hatching eggs from a reputable breeder of true, heritage bred Delawares. The real ones that need saving.

Hatchery Barred Rocks and New Hampshires aren't really the way to go, plus it takes more than one generation. . . I know you got fond of a hatchery bird, but the heritage types are so much nicer to have. Especially when you've got such rare one like Delawares.
