This is my first time doing chicks so I'm constantly paranoid I'm doing something wrong haha. By my chicks will all be two weeks on Friday and the other three have their tiny tail feathers while my Blue Laced Red Wyandotte does not. I'm guessing everything is fine but thought I'd check to see if others have thoughts. Her wings are getting feathers, she's active and seems happy, she's also smaller than the rest.

Did you get them from TSC (or someplace similar) or did you get them shipped to you?

She looks at least two weeks behind the others.

If you got them from TSC she could be a chick from a newer shipment.

Actually on second look there may not be as much of a difference as I thought. I see the other chick's body isn't feathered yet. The light made it appear as if the darker chick had more feathers.

No I got them at a local farm--they said they were all the same age. The others' body isn't feathered but the tops of their wings are starting to be. I see her eating and drinking with all the others

If you sure of age, one possible reason is gender.... male chicks feather more slowly than females in general. Even in sexed birds an oops cockerel makes its way into thre pullet bin now and then.

I'll get pics of some of my chicks tomorrow. I have some that are more feathered than others. It could just be the difference in breed.

Hmmm good to know, I'll have to keep an eye out! She's supposed to be sexed but I guess we'll see

That's what I'm wondering but can't see any information on it so I was curious if anyone had personal experience :)
