I agree. I think that any 2 TRUE Ameraucana bred together will produce TRUE Ameraucana but, if the chicks are a non APA or ABA recognized color then they should be sold as EE's even though technically they are Ameraucana. Does that make sense?

Makes sense to me and I think it is unfair to a buyer to sell stock that doesn't meet the standard as Ameraucana as such.

There is a strong market for EEs. Market them as such and they will still sell, but maybe at $15 to $20 shipped instead.

You can breed black and blue together. When working with blue you get blacks, so that's an acceptable pairing. Black and blue are both standard colors.

I would think if you were breeding for specific pattern or colour and it breed true 50% of the time it would be considered a Ameraucana.

That breeding true 50% of the time is written somewhere on the Ameraucana site.

Wow, wish I had never said anything. Okay....Please add to your notes that mine have green legs. I'm calling my breeder later in the day to discuss this further. I only have one lady who lays the green eggs and I know who she is and I'll have a discussion with her and inform her that she's moving out from the pen. I'm sure she'll be missed......

These eggs did not come from Ideal, or mcmurray or any of those companies but a small breeder in my area.

At any rate I still have eggs for sale......Smile.

Don't be too discouraged. Many people have had the same thing happen. It was only mentioned to you to let you know that what you have is not what you think you have. It's very possible that whoever sold them to you was told the same thing from who ever they got them from. To get good information on the actual breed Ameraucana please visit this site: http://www.ameraucana.org/
