Deleting PM's

I cannot find an option to delete PM's. It goes to the Trash and I can't "empty" the trash folder. I've done this before, but I cannot find the option now and I've tried everything. Help?

You can't delete the trash in this new format. Seems a bit weird but that's the way it is.
