Copied the sample list. Been reading tons online, youtube and borrowing from the library across the state. Thought we would have to wait to move out to the country, for meat chickens we will have to wait.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? New to chickens, township just changed the ordinance to allow 4 chickens for egg laying.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? None, sadly none in the freezer either. But plenty of venison for jerky.

(3) What breeds do you have? Just starting my search on what I should get.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Did a google search for a term I heard on Youtube and up came BYC website. (Was about chicken pithing, had never heard it before).

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Woodturning, woodworking, fishing, bow hunting.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Couple of empty nesters planning out our future, celebrating 30 years together.

Hi, Welcome to BYC! I don't have any chickens right now, but my guinea keets are coming soon and i am planning my coop. Probably will buy some building materials this week! Keep us posted as you start your adventure in chickens!

Hello and welcome to BYC. Check out the breeds section for ideas. Think about your local climate, whether you want chickens for eggs, meat or both and if eye-candy is a factor. This chart may also help - http://www.sagehenfarmlodi.com/chooks/chooks.html

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224
