DEMENTED MUSCOVY DRAKE ATTACKING FROM BEHIND!

Def take them both 1 drake to 2 females is cutting it close but hopefully, things will be fine till next spring and then you may have to think of one more. But that is next year so just enjoy them for now. I'm sure your drake will be a happy boy.

What did they do put all butchers out of business?

PLEASE help! I need a breeder so I can find a female muscovy before I cull the drake who has taken to attacking me from behind and challenging my every move, no matter how slow and in tune with their needs. I Just don't want to continue with this drake (I've been trying for some time and am ready to give up!) but I also don't want to leave the other sweet drake without a duck companion. Does anyone know a breeder of muscovy on the east coast who might have an adolescent hen?
Thanks so much!
Rehome the drake. I had the same issue with a Muscovy drake and was told to get him a female. We got him two, and he didn't change one bit. Rehome the drake and don't bother trying to improve him.

I don't know...? Apparently during covid they all disappeared! I have heard this from a couple of people.

Hi Lacy. That is what I did. Meanwhile I still (fortunately) only have his sweet brother who will be the one and only drake with these two new hens. I don't know if he will become aggressive with females around but I don't think so.

My Muscovy drake can be a handful during breeding season but I love him too much not to tolerate his behavior since it is part of who they are. But some drakes are just nasty and sounds like you have made a wise decision in rehoming that one. My Drake Ope had many a toss into the pool for a [cold shower] when he would come after me. It took his mind off me for a while.

Yes, well I had to give him a hose down to get him to back off but if I don't go armed with the hose he always comes after me with all he has. The towel waved just didn't do it anymore. I felt a bit like what bull fighter must feel when he goes into the ring when all I wanted was to change their water, feed them or do some gardening.

Now it's time to come up with more names. You all have such clever names for your ducks. I of course, named the d. drake a female name (wishful thinking) and now finally will have females to name. Joy!

My seriously disturbed muscovy drake surprised me yesterday. He followed me pecking my feet and legs but not viciously like he generally does. I picked him up but could not put him in time out in the dogcrate on my patio as it has rat traps set in it [5 rats caught in 3 days -- but that's another story.] So I sat down on a cinder block with him on my lap. He didn't struggle; didn't peck or fight, and seemed to enjoy being petted. After 5 minutes, I wasn't comfortable, so I stood up and took him over to my back steps where he stood next to me as I sat, and clearly enjoyed having his carruncles stroked. I was talking to him an stroking him -- underneath and his chest, I didn't try stroking his back. We had a lovely close time for upwards of 20 minutes. Later in the day, he took himself into the kiddie pool where he hasn't gone all year except when I have thrown him in, and then he got straight out. He spent a few moments standing in the water, got out, and when he realised it hadn't hurt him, turned round and got back in for a big splashy bath. MMmmm, Why? I don't know, but today he is back to his aggressive self and didn't enjoy being stroked!!
