Denizli are from Turkey where they are raised by the government.
About 10 years ago Toni Marie Astin brought them into the the country by way of Marc King.
Toni started crossing them with all kinds of stuff. (Kind of miffed off Marc when I told him).
IN any case, we raise them, but are not selling them right now.
The cocks can crow for a long duration if you do a serach on youtube there are some impressive recordings.
however, this is not the norm. We are breeding to increase the length, but the blood lines here are very narrow. So inbreeding is a problem. We intend to import more in the next year or two to improve our line. My longest roo was crowing for 5-6 second duration, which sounds very long next to other birds. They are very active, good foragers, and lay a lot of eggs (despite claims).

IN fact, you will hear claims that birds with silver in them are crosses or that they must be only dark. This is bunk. The bird comes in about an array of patterns and Marc imported a mix of colors. There were birchen-like ones, dark almost black, and then golden. We have silver and golden mostly. But again, we are breeding for call length and not so much for conformation. I am working on AI with the birds to grow our flock more effectively. Bu tthat is a whole nother story! :)

If you want to know more about them, Jamie ([email protected]) has a ton of info and loves talking about them. I'm not sure if she likes the Denizli, Faverolles or Sumatra better, but certainly at times she likes the Denizli best! :)
