Dental Plans?

I'm a full time Wal mart employee, who is now considered part time (being smart). We are looking in dropping all my insurance and going with Health care 1 which covers everything even dental.

k...so it wound up costing $1100 AFTER insurance? How the heck does that one work?

No it started out $1100 without insurance, and I had to pay $800. It only saved me $300 - not much when we are broke to begin with.

EXCEPT, I just did the math for Delta Dental and it will cost me an extra $300/ year for dental insurance that covers 80% of cosmetic (bonding on my teeth to keep the roots from being exposed). So what's the point when the initial cost is only $100 something?

What about those "discount" plans? The ones that aren't coverage, but will help you get discounts at the dentist? Something like this:

That is true, however, you need to consider the premium you have to pay too!!!! Luckily for me, my company pays for all health, vision and dental insurance. However, if you have to pay say $50 a month - that is $600 a year PLUS the co-pays that are incredibly high.

already had a crown this year so my delta dental is maxed out for the year...pathetic! now considering a second dental plan to buy on my own, as i have another root canal to be done.
