Okay, homesteader may be a little strong for what we've got going on here.
I'm a city girl with a red neck background. My neighbors think I'm nuts. I'm the barefoot stay-at-home unschooling mom with 3 kids, a dog and six chicks. But they recognize I'm a harmless eccentric and welcome me and my kids into their homes (even if one does ask my little girl to wipe her feet with diaper wipes before coming in. I guess that makes sense, everyone else has to take off their shoes, but my little one is never wearing any!). My mother, born and bred (though not inbred
) in the hills of West Virginia can't understand how I can stand to live so packed in in a place where people loiter on street corners (she only recently realized that they're waiting for buses
). I'm a hybrid. I like the conveniences of the city and the satisfaction of raising my kids - and some of my own food - my own way. Thankfully in Denver, it's not too hard to find others like me.
I have already found this forum to be a wealth of information and I look forward to learning more!
