I had to get some closure on this thread. Boudie started to deteriorate after she returned and eventually wouldn't eat or drink. I knew where it was heading, so I took a few snaps of her very last morning (which turned out to be the case) and what a beautiful morning it was:
She struggled over to drink some dew from the steps and warm up in the sun.
I managed to get her best friend Gentle to join her:
Boudie is on the left and Gentle on the right.
Poor Gentle will have to find a new best friend now.
Very sad, but she was a rescue chook and would have been killed a few weeks after I saved her so I take comfort in the time she could live as a chicken is supposed to live and enjoy her life.
