Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Nice Job! Boy, I didn't know Derp had such long eyelashes!

I have two 5 week old Salmon's---not sure if both are cockerals...and five 3 week old pullets (supposedly). None of them seem Derpy yet, just kind of normal...maybe a little shyer than some of the other breeds i have....

Novaaman, How pretty - kind of bittersweet, you lost your hen but, she lives on thru this little doll. Ahe came from the last egg - that makes her a LIMITED EDITION - great show name anyway.

Okay, we have two Salmon Favorelles (Purley and Dee) that act just as you describe Derp! They sort of do their own thing separate from the rest of the flock. The Orpington, Marans, Silkie, Barnevelder, Andalusian, Golden Comet, and Austra White will all be on one side of our yard and Purley and Dee will look up after about thirty minutes, realize they have been left behind, lower their heads, and run as fast as they can in a zig zag pattern to where the other girls are. They also walk up to the other ladies and bump their chests against them and then move their heads up and down. The other girls just look at them and walk off. They are included in the flock by the others but sort of given special placement on the hierarchy of pecking order. Also, poor Purley has a massive under bite that really adds to her daft look. I just adore them but they are very 'different'. : )
