Well... since we FINALLY got our computer working again at our house... I can hopefully help entertain while we wait on Fud Lady.
I had a week of chicken math last week. I had ordered 3 chicks from MPC - and they arrived on Tuesday! My very own Salmon Faverolles included! (the others were an Australorp and a Red Star). So - Monday, before my babies arrived, I decided that I needed a silkie in the WORST way. Found a breeder, drove 3 hours with ALL FOUR KIDS to get to her house. Mind you - this all transpired after 3 pm on Monday. So - I arrive. She is getting out of the white silkies - and has only 2 left. We decided on one - and since they had been raised together, she gave us the other one too. Now - mind you, in our city limits - we're only supposed to have 4. (no one bust me) I had a barred rock already - now I added 2 Silkies and then 3 new babies on Tues! chicken math for SURE!

The SF is named Genevieve. She's lovely. And yes, she is a little derpy. BUT - she has the fuzziest, softest face. And she is the LOUDEST chick I have ever met in my life. I actually should have named her Forrest, Forrest Gump, because she runs everywhere. No walking for that chicky. If it's meant to be gotten - she is running full speed at it. Otherwise, it's not worth it - and she just stares at it... sound familiar?

I was taking her photo in the beautiful light coming in my windows. The shiny surface of the end table was reflective. The other 2 chicks - named Bindi (australorp) and Bernadette (after Bernadette Peters - another "RED"-headed Star - get it?) - the other chicks did not notice their reflections at all. In fact, they found the process rather tedious. Bernadette craned her neck around and peeped once, then decided that it just wasn't important, and she settled right down to have her picture taken. Bindi posed. She thinks she is pretty - which she is. She cocked her little head and would probably have been saying "Do I look cute like this? How about this? And this?" in bird language.

But Viv, (genevieve's nickname) - no boy howdy. She ran from one end to the other peeping her little head off. Then - suddenly - she stopped. She had found - HER REFLECTION. She talked to it. She pecked at it. Then she discovered there was one of the FLOOR TOO!! She talked to that. She pecked at that one too. Viv then decided that the one on the wall was much more interesting. She dashed back to the wall. And hunkered down right beside her own reflection. It was very sweet.

Here are a few pics of the new SF. Introducing GENEVIEVE!!!!'

Ok... I'm trying and TRYING to attach pictures... but it is not letting me. Yes - I'm pushing the little picture button. Yes, it takes me through the upload - and then nope - it's not showing up. cotton pickin' thing!

So - if you guys want to see Viv, I will now go and try to create an actual album under my profile.
