Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

All right my fellow Derp groupies... My fav egg FINALLY hatched. It took nearly 36 hours from pip to hatch! The tiniest chick ever came out. Perfectly formed... BUT clearly not pure faverolle. So... They, the eggs were still fertile from either my Rod Stewart, silkie/faverolles, or by Fritz the jerk, frizzle serema... With how very tiny this baby was, I am leaning towards Fritz. AND all pink skin. Even feet. It hasn't fluffed all the way, but has quite the lungs. So, cross fingers that its the serema cross. And Frizzled. And a girl, AND that I get a pic tomorrow. Lol. Can you imagine a Faverema... Or a seremerolles? Lol And especially if its a frizzle!

GOTTA se a pic of this little bitty NovaAman!!!!

Nambroth: YAH!! FOR THE VIDEOS, Derp just loves being petted and Trousers is stunning.....we love every crumb you throw our way.:yesss:...

Derp did try to kill the 2 EE chicks ? When did you introduce them to her ? I know the time of day can be a factor. Was it during the night or day time that you tried to introduce her to the chicks ? But you are right just because a hen goes broody doesn't mean she will be a good mother, and the way you described how she acted compared to NovaAman's Skatter. Derp just might not be foster mother material. I know Skatter seemed to accept any babies given to her immediately and was a demon mother who protected them.

Lol, if it is a boy like his daddy, your not get much a dinner bird from him, if it is a boy and has his father's personality.

We put them under her as if they had hatched, in the wee hours of the morning. When that didn't work, we did try later on. I know Derp, and she is not right upstairs. Not mother material! She wouldn't even sit on her own eggs.
