Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

Oh no!!!! Poor Baron! I've been so busy I just haven't had time to check the Derp thread, finally got a chance and I see this! My heart just aches for the fud lady and fud guy....is there a chance that Baron can pull thru?? He does look content in his sling, I read in a thread that you can also use a pair of "tighty whities" as a sling too, now that would be a sight!

Puddles in a pair of the fud guy's old "tighty whities"- What do you think Nambroth???

the vet thinks she damaged her joint jumping off a high surface, at this point its wait and see- there were some suspicions it could be mereks, or a tumor on the backbone- alot of unknowns- so her mama came up with this for now to keep her moving
here is a link to her facebook, for updates

Derp on the home page of BYC, promoting the video competition. You've definitely got to submit a video now Nambroth!

How is Puddles doing? Instead of Derpdates we're all waiting for Puddledates at the moment - fingers crossed hoping that no news is good news.

Baron is still fighting the good fight! He seems as perky and "healthy" as ever... except his legs just won't work right. He can stand up most of the way, but loses all coordination when he tries to take a step. Still, he eats well, his poops are good, he has no other signs of Marek's (even though I am pretty sure that's what he has), and is as active as he can be without using his legs. So far, he's beaten the 'odds', in terms of how long he has survived with an elevated immunoresponse... it doesn't mean he can't crash at any time, but I am happy to say that he seems very happy and even if he suddenly does go south, he is not suffering at all right now.

We are doing some minor rehab type things with him right now... helping him to stand a few times a day, putting him in the sling, allowing him to perch both on the floor and on the arm of a chair (he can balance there very well and seems to prefer being off the ground at night). If it seems as if he is going to make it, we can look at long term rehab. I just don't want to stress him out too much right now as his body is obviously fighting disease...

Here is a post where I shared his bloodwork. Again, the bloodwork points to a severe problem! But maybe we can pull him through it. It's hard to know.

Baron Rufflerump at the vet, on the 31st of January. I was afraid this might be the last photo I ever took of him. To my delight, it wasn't, of course!!

I had some friends fly in to visit me on my birthday, as a surprise!! We couldn't do too many activities, as I couldn't leave the Baron, so he visited with us the whole time. One of my friends was taking his photo, here.

He really loves this maroon colored towel! Here he is, starting to have a "dust bath" in it.

Yesterday, there was a sunbeam coming into the house and I quickly put him into it. He loved it, of course! Made him feel very sleepy and happy.

So, we are doing our best by him!! Look how much his comb and wattles have grown in!
