Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

These photos are from last Sunday, when we had a lovely sunny day that wasn't too cold-- for the first time this year!

Derperella's Giant Sunbath

The sun, the glorious sun! The warm shine and tingle on the feather! Ah, it is so nice!

Derperella and the other chickens were having a wonderful day. They were loose in the yard, while the kind Fud Guy watched over them, and the Fud Lady stomped about, throwing dead dry things out of the garden, sweeping here, mulching there. Normal Fud Lady Stuff. When she was done, she sat down with her camera and watched the chickens as they chickened around the yard.

While the other chickens were dustbathing in part of the Fud Lady's garden, Derp found a nice patch of sunlight.

Oh, the sun! It is nice on the feather! It is good on the wing!

Now, some months ago when Derp was still Derping around with her sweet sister, Coho, Coho felt very helpful by shaving off Derp's Beard. So very helpful! Sadly, as we know, Coho is going 'round the big rooster in the sky now, but her legacy of "Clean Shaven Derp" lives on with us.

The problem is, Derperella does not know that her beard is gone.
She still tries to preen it.
Oh.
Oh, oh okay.

"I DID THE PREEN, FUD LADY"

Then, it was time to sunbathe some more. Glorious, beautiful, radiant sun! After a winter so long and cold, we look to you to bring resplendence to the land and chickens once more! Shine upon the hens and make them ever so beautiful.... and... lovely??
Derp??

So... so beautiful....

"FUD LADY I DID THE SUNBATH OKAY"

Sorry about Coho... What happened?

Derp was bought as a day-old chick from Meyer Hatchery, as a Salmon Faverolles.
Coho passed away in February, I wrote about it a page or two back.

Thought you hatched her out... Whoops, I'm behind lol.

Guess I missed the post... Sorry.

Terribly sorry about Coho :hugs Hopefully Derp will be okay :).
