Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

I'm sorry! I had to go out of town and I didn't really have internet access for several days. Derp seems to be getting better. She stands with her neck more straight than before, and seems less twisty overall. She continues to be normal in every way except her crooked neck, which is only slight now. The only thing that she seems to have problems with is going into the coop. Sometimes she can get in, but because she is THE DERP, she thinks she must fly into the coop instead of using the ramp to walk in. She sometimes can't connect, as she flies sideways. So we are still bringing her in at night and giving her vitamin therapy.

So, my thoughts are:

1. It WAS a deficiency and the vitamin therapy is helping her, or
2. It was an injury and she is healing, or,
3. It is Marek's doing strange things because she was vaccinated, and Mareks can present in strange ways sometimes.

Regardless, she IS doing better, though she still needs a little help.

Fud Lady chose to keep UPDATES in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...eck-possible-tumor-thymus-response-mareks/240

The latest update looks like Derp is still eating and drinking well and Derping around despite her rather twisty neck.

Oh well thanks for the update Nambroth!

It's okay. I will probably update more here, now, since it is about Derp and I am tentatively thinking it's nor Marek's (which is what the other thread is about, now).

Oops, I didn't mean anything by it CinnamonQueen. So many Derp fans were asking for updates on the last page that I thought that I would post a link, but then I didn't get around to reading the next page with the actual update, DOH!

I'm glad to hear Derp is improving. My somewhat Derpy goose and runt of the hatch had wry neck so bad for a while she couldn't walk in a straight line. With vitamin therapy and time she improved, but I always wondered if there was something congenital associated with her small size etc. that made her more prone to wry neck.
