Derperella, the (weird) Faverolles, & Friends

My chicks arrived in the mail today, and my mystery bantam (russian orloff maybe) appears to be Derpy! We thought she was going to die when we got her, she now still has one eye closed, wobbles around, and falls flat on her butt sometimes. She also likes to STARE at the ceiling. When I first saw her, I thought of Derp...

Is it a bantam thing? to be derpy i mean...
We havev one that can't walk...like if she walks she falls flat on her face. She has to run every where to keep from falling.

Nah, I don't think it is limited to bantams. My "Derp" is a standard size chicken. HOWEVER, I am finding that she is "Derpy like a FOX." I thought she was a little off, so I showed her a LOT more attention, hand fed, etc. - I was TOTALLY PLAYED. She can turn the "Derp"
on and off like a switch to suit her purposes. The boost the extra feed/attention gave her now has her in the running for the flock alpha position...up from the 2nd lowest gal in the flock...sigh...outsmarted by a chicken.........

Oh no! I hope she makes it. I don't wish Derp's early experiences on any chick or their person!

She is doing fine now and loves to be the loudest chick. Her eye finally opened too.

Just sharing something I recently read....
Did you all know that Faverolles are prone to become over weight? If confined in a run for instance. I notice that my one pure Faverolle hen, Honey is ALWAYS hungry. If Im sitting out with the flock she will come peck me on my back to get my attention in hopes of getting a treat from me. When I bring out food to the flock I always announce, "whose hungry" and guess who is always the first one at my feet...yep, Honey!
