These pictures are from when they were 8 weeks old. The difference now is the girls are MUCH bigger, starting to cluck and combs are more red. Once their coop is finished this weekend, I'll have updated pictures of my brats.

Last night, Cindy the EE/Amer watever discovered her ability to fly high enough to jump on the brooder which is just under five feet tall. I like to leave the door of the brooder open so they have fresh air up until my bed time then I close the door. So we could not have that-oh no. I got some scissors and everyone got chased around a bit to have wings clipped. I am sure it will only slow some down. Even Belinda the big fat ex-runt BR managed to fly up for me and while screaming her fool head off, I clipped even more wing fleathers off. Most of them with lots of protesting, pulling of wings did get clipped quite well. Angry chickies who seemed to have forgotten what I did this morning for breakfast. Ha!

They amuse me to no end, the girls do. I can see combs developing, the naked necks are really getting red in the face. A couple (Ebony the Blk Aussie and Cindy) have done some nesting behavior but nothing serious. Cinnamon the unknown chicken breed has even bulked up as she was the smallest for a long time. She might be the Red Star which makes me sad I didn't get my NHR. Who knows-perhaps someone can finally tell me what my little Cinn is.

Cinnamon the we don't know yet chicken
