Does anyone have any experience with rope bridges and button quail? I'm turning my 75 gallon tank into a button quail habitat, and the bridge is a key design feature. Most of the bottom of the tank will be sand, easy to clean, with a section originally designed as a water feature will instead be an elevated fresh greens garden, with a ramp leading up. Another ramp will lead to a small shelf above the garden in the back corner, off which a rope bridge based on this design http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/for...ussion/173125-temple-doom-bridge-project.html (Planks close together to prevent caught toes and legs, of course), which will span the terrarium and connect to a plateau/shelf on the opposite side, supported on bamboo legs.

The lid for my terrarium will be a wooden dowel design, in a basic swingset a-frame shape. The sides will slope inward, however. I'll cover this with mosquito netting, good and boink proof. There will be feeders and water at various levels, playing with the idea of a waterfall, but afraid button poo would make it unsanitary very fast.

Well, no dramatic shouts of "DON'T DO IT, ITS A TRAP!!!!" So, I've started construction. Turns out gluing rope together (non-toxic hot glue) is a very time consuming process. After a half hour I have... one rope out of four for my bridge.
Three out of four sides for my bamboo a-frame lid are together. The lid making is complicated by the water still in the 75 gallon tank, lol, I keep having to wait for my rods to dry every time I dip an end in by accident. The basic construction needs to be ready for the buttons before I can move them in, however, and I need to do all my moves on the same day because the buttons are in the tank my aquarium inhabitants are going to go to. Ah well, keeps my busy and not worrying about moving day (which will be a lot easier with my 75 gal containing a dry habitat.)
Ditched the waterfall idea, going with a more Asian, bamboo jungle village feel, as they are after all "Chinese" painted quail.

Cant wait till I get this done and can show off pictures.

I know nothing about Button Quail. But I DO think they are just adorable! Would love to see the pics when you get done with it. As natural as you can get it, the better they will enjoy life!

Really curious how this'll turn out! Pictures please? (:
