Design for Multi-Coops/Breeding pens

Why would it raise your taxes? I have 2, 30 by 40 buildings on my property and my taxes didnt go up. I was told that as long as they were not attached to the house, they would not be affected.

I just noticed that too about the drainage. Taking the trench and maybe add some rock to make it more decorative might be an idea.

Actually the roof is slanted away from the coop. But still when it runs off it has to go somewhere. It dumps at the backside. and runs away. We are thinking of adding gutters and collecting it to water them. But really just putting rock down where it falls would help a ton. It's on a hill so it drains pretty well. The coop runoff isn't the problem. It's where it rains into the runs. The buried boards hold it in there. But yes, we are hoping to add some rock around the outside a bit to help it drain away. Also our soil isn't that sandy. It just looks that way because it was the very dry. We have added a few bags of sand, and jsut the little ammount helps, we will be bringing in a truck load as soon as we can.

Also I live in a county where taxes are pretty high. Every building is taxed. I believe jsut the little 8'x 4' building is around $50.

After sitting here figuring it up, it looks like I would have to buy more materials to make a big building than just sticking to small ones. Also I would need to move all the my runs, and tear down my little building.

So it seems I will stay with little ones. They surely don't look as nice, but they work fine.

We are going to be building a new barn in a few years, and I plan on adding a chicken area. So these ones will do until then.

Anyone have any other ideas on making the coops work better, or ideas on building design?

Mine work as well as I need. I am just looking for some other peoples views. Sorry to be such a pain.

I'm thinking they were referring to the run-off from your run? Though I could be mistaken. It does look like the run is slanted towards your coops.

I'm confuzed. lol How can I have a run-off from the run. It's got a wire top, the rain gos right through...Or are you saying it looks like it all pools at the coop wall? If so. It doesn't. It all goes to the corner near the door, and makes a big puddle.

Sorry if I'm not understanding.

Either way, the entire thing is going to be covered in rock and sand soon, so it should take care of these problems.
