Most people send eggs that are 3-4 days old at most. However, I've sent some that were 5 and 6 days old when they left here, and all of the eggs hatched. They went to Florida. So they 'should' be okay, it's just that most would rather not send them so old. Their age doesn't really affect them until they get closer to the 10-14 day old mark, but shipping doesn't help any. Plus if they get slowed down in shipping (like ChooksChick's poor eggies

) having sent 'younger' eggs gives them a better chance

these are feed store "arcaunas" i have no clue what the roo hatched out of.... i have some of his chicks with the leghorn that are 4 weeks old now.. i'm figuring when the hens start laying i'll know what color he's putting in.. lol...

i have the oportunity to get some dark brown egg roo's, and i really want them to put with my Lucy that's laying green.. but i just don't have the $ with christmas coming up... i wanted to get the 2 welsummer pullets that lay speckeld eggs and 1 of the dark egger roos that ke_ben is getting rid of in his downsizing... but the kids christmas comes first and i can't expect him to hold birds for 2 months till i have more $$... but i'm getting some Cuckoo Marans that are 2 weeks old that a friend ordered for me in exchange for the hatching eggs i gave him for free... so i just have to wait for one to start crowing and be ready to party.. lol....

from what i understand though, the blue gren color is dominant and so if it hatches out of one of these green eggs it should lay some shade of green egg...

and who knows.. i still have 4 EE's that are not laying yet... i may end up with more green layers...

i think everyone's chickens have gone on stirke... the offer will be current for whenever anyone wants to take them... i'll start collecting for shipping within a few days fo the offer being taken.. depending on day of the week/when i can get to the PO.. lol...

on a side note, i've gotten 4 eggs instead of 3 twice this week!! YaY... now to figure out who the new contributor is.. lol...

got any pics of them?? have i seen them before??? i saw the lemon blue orps, and didn't like that color scheme on that bird.. i'd love to see it on an OEGB...

my birds are all confused right now... the weather went goofy and holy crap.. what is that wet stuff falling on us... and it was below freezing over night with wet stuff.. not frozen stuff mind you... and i haven't seen a green egg in like 4 or 5 days.. lol...

but my leghorn keeps plugging away.. and i now have 2 brown/terracotta layers who are trying to keep up with her.. lol...

my eggs are still on the table.... EE mix eggs... but right now not so heavy on the greens.. lol...
