'Designer' Egg Chain

Sounds like yours are India blue with maybe some pied or white mixed in. I've found that peafowl eggs and babies are a little trickier than chickens; mortality rate runs a bit higher. If you can find hatching eggs locally, that's a better bet than ordering. Most good breeders don't offer eggs or young chicks--too much customer dissatisfaction. The hens aren't reallly good setters, but cochin hens take them happily. I usually incubate and if I have a hen that ones to set toward the end of the season, I let her.

I feed mine layer and gamebird feed, dog food for extra protein (the cheap kind), and corn in the winter for warmth, which shouldn't be an issue for you. Plus they get treats such as leftover fruit and vegetables, bread, etc.

You can get a lot of information at the UPA website: www.peafowl.org.

Your EE eggs are tempting, but I've promised myself no brooding over the winter.

evonne Do you have pictures of your EE's and there eggs?
What have your chicks you've hatched turned out like colors etc.

*edit to say you can click on the thumbs to see them bigger*

the eggs pic was taken the day i got my first green.. i was ssoo excited... i'm getting a fairly steady 3 a day right now... 1 of each color
hope the other girls decide to start pitching in soon... lol.... i'm still hoping for more green layers...

the dad is the white EE roo... his name is Blue

the 3rd pic shows some of the EE hens

the last pic is the chicks i hatched on 10/30... ignore the one i tried to dye orange.. lol.. they are getting more blacks spots as time goes by... they were my first hatch, and all out of the white eggs that come from Blue and my white leghorn Rocky.. rocky is classic textbook white leghorn... i do not know what color Blue contributes to the eggs yet.. he came from the feed store... i don't know what color egg he hatched out of...

aside note for the leghornxEE chicks though... some have bright white feathers coming in, some have a soft white.. not enough to be cream or buff, but not the stark white of a leghorn.. more the off white of Blue... they were all hatched w/ yellow legs, but some of them are darkening to slate now... some have obvious tufts, but i've heard that's a dominant gene so they should all have tufts and beards...

anything i didn't cover?? i'm going to try to get a mix of all 3 color eggs to whoever takes the offer.. was thinking if i collect fri sat sun and ship on monday that's 3 of each color...

There is also a white hen that is the same size as these.

I will also include as a bonus any silkie eggs that I have - one laid an egg today but it got broken - I think it came from a black hen bred by a black rooster - non bearded.

lol.. the one in the second picture looks likr my EE girls... so you may end up with a bigger cersion of her out of the EE eggs.. lol.. she's a cutie... so is the roo you pictured.. and dang it.. if i didn't want a bunch more hybrid banty's i'd take your offer just for the silky...
no more banty's for me untill feb when i get my MFC pair or eggs ....

If no one wants the bantam chicken eggs - I do have duck eggs also - I am getting two Pekin, one Cayuga, and three MagpieXCayuga eggs each day so if someone would rather have duck eggs just let me know.

I did get another silky egg today - so hopefully I will get one each day. I will save the eggs for 4 or 5 days and send you whatever the total is. From today, I got two of the bantam chicken eggs and 1 silky egg. Just started saving them today - will update daily or until someone says they want them.
