Destroying viscoius black berries!!!!

Silkiechicken: we have rental places around here. Maybe you could do some checking on a walk behind brush hog deal. It's like a bigger heavy duty mower.
Or check with your county extension agent for ideas on how to get rid of the evil plants.

We had a stretch of blackberries maybe 80’ L x 20’ W x 10+’ Tall, growing over our creek, some areas didn’t produce as well as others. We took a weed whacker to them and then dug the roots up and kept the most productive area. We planted corn and beans were they use to be and still get a great crop in our reduced area of blackberries we just had some this evening and they were great. We have our boysenberries on the other side.

Over here on the east side of the state it is hard to grow blackberries. Our main problem around here are the oregon grapes, they can get up to 4' tall and their root systems spread, we pulled one up with the tractor one time that was about 20' long total and every few feet was a plant. I would love to have a blackberry bush, wanna trade? JK
I would say just chop the branches down most of the way, then dig around the plant and chop it up with pruners then kill the suckers that come back.

My hubby leaves the blackberries for the ducks and the birds around here. He bought a brazos berry bush and is going to put it somewhere where the dogs cant eat this one.

Have you tried using Juglone? It comes from walnut trees and can be gotten organic.

Technicaly they arent a grape, the plants have glossy leaves and almost look like holly. The berries are tart but they make good jams. The leaves have sharp points on them so it can be a pain. I think I saw some over on the coast when I was there for a show but they werent as big as the ones we have...
